Privacy Policy
Last updated April 18, 2026
This privacy policy explains how NetQuery, LLC ("NetQuery", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use NetQuery websites, APIs, DNS and network diagnostic tools, Microsoft Teams apps, Microsoft 365 Copilot experiences, and related support services.
If you do not agree with this policy, do not use the services. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].
1. Scope
This policy applies to NetQuery tools and services that link to it, including the public website at https://netquery.tools, the NetQuery APIs, account and support interactions, and NetQuery apps made available through Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, Copilot, or AppSource.
Some services, such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Clerk, cloud hosting, email, analytics, and payment providers, may also process information under their own privacy notices.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, information generated when you use the services, and limited information provided by connected platforms.
- Account and contact information. Name, email address, authentication identifiers, company or tenant details, support messages, and preferences you provide.
- Diagnostic inputs. Domains, IP addresses, hostnames, selectors, ports, DNS record names, and commands you submit to NetQuery tools or APIs.
- Results and usage data. Tool results, status signals, timing, cache status, feature usage, request metadata, and error details.
- Device and log data. IP address, browser or client type, operating system, referring URLs, approximate location derived from IP address, timestamps, request URLs, and security events.
- Support information. Screenshots, tenant or app details, issue descriptions, and other information you send to us for support.
3. Microsoft Teams And Copilot Data
When you use the NetQuery app in Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, or Copilot, Microsoft sends activity data to NetQuery so we can authorize the request, run the requested lookup, return a result, troubleshoot failures, and understand installation and usage.
Depending on what Microsoft provides in the activity payload, we may process and log the following operational audit fields:
- Microsoft tenant ID, tenant name, Teams user ID, Microsoft Entra object ID, display name, email address, and user principal name.
- Conversation, team, channel, and activity identifiers, including whether the request came from personal chat, group chat, a team, or Copilot.
- The command and diagnostic input you submitted, parsed command type, lookup result status, elapsed time, cache hit status, and related telemetry needed to operate the service.
- App lifecycle events that Microsoft sends to the bot, such as member added or member removed events.
We do not log Microsoft bearer tokens, app secrets, or raw authorization headers. We do not use Teams or Copilot user identifiers for advertising.
4. How We Use Information
- Provide DNS, email, SMTP, and network diagnostic results.
- Authenticate users and authorize app or API requests.
- Operate, monitor, secure, debug, and improve the services.
- Investigate abuse, fraud, reliability issues, and errors.
- Respond to support, privacy, legal, and administrative needs.
- Measure aggregate usage trends, feature adoption, latency, and service health.
6. Retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the services, maintain security and reliability, resolve support issues, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our agreements. Operational logs and telemetry are retained for limited business and security purposes unless a longer period is required for incident response, legal, or compliance needs.
7. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, and alteration. No internet service can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so you should avoid submitting secrets such as passwords, API keys, private keys, or private certificate material to NetQuery tools or support channels.
8. Your Choices And Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information we process about you. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To make a privacy request, contact [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before responding. If your data comes from a Microsoft tenant, we may also ask you to work with your tenant administrator.
9. Children
NetQuery is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
10. Updates
We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the "Last updated" date above, and the updated policy will be effective when posted unless otherwise stated.
